Discussion of Inspection Requirements

The U.S. Department of Energy’s Hanford Site is located in Richland, WA. The site contains underground storage tanks to provide safe storage of radioactive waste until it can be treated and dispositioned. To ensure safe storage of the material, the condition of the tanks are periodically assessed through ongoing tank integrity programs. These programs include various inspection requirements to trend any observable degradation, resulting impacts on system integrity, and the ability of the storage assets to meet mission demands.
