As the migration of digital imaging continues to expand from the primes down the chain of manufacture, the opportunity to integrate QA chain improvements along the entire process is approaching. Given that NDT managers and QA staff have an already demanding job profile, documentation and verification software “apps” have the ability to make their jobs easier and decrease error. But as these apps grow, it is just as important to have interoperability between platforms. From mobile devices that we all carry with us daily, to the reporting tools integrated into inspection software, making use of this data is of key importance and interoperability standards are the path forward. This presentation will discuss use cases of apps, their role in the supply chain, and present the reasons interoperability is critical.
