Inspection of Fabric Reinforced Rubber Expansion Joints using a Microwave Technique

The principal objective of the inspection technique described in this paper is to detect failure of the inner liner in fabric reinforced rubber expansion joints before substantial fluid intrusion into the carcass can occur, providing sufficient advance knowledge of the impending replacement to permit it utilizing normal, scheduled maintenance.
