The National Highway Institute, the training arm of the Federal Highway Administration, recently developed multiple web based training courses regarding NDE of Bridges. These courses are based on an existing two day long instructor led course but added some additional topics and tools. Web base training allows a wider audience and the convenience of not having to travel and sit in a class. The target audience includes all those involved in the NDE of bridges and is divided into bridge material categories including concrete, steel, timber and other materials such as FRP. The course also includes lessons that focus on material quality control. This presentation will provide an overview of the course and the concept of web based training in technology transfer.
