Gamma Ray Dose and Operating Methodology
This paper presents a mathematical model that calculates the exposure experienced by a radiographer performing a specific gamma ray inspections operation. The model takes into account equipment variables (cable lengths, collimator, isotope activity) and performance preferences (walking away, bending the guide tube). In the end, the exposure, exposure rate, and average exposure rate are calculated for the different configurations and scenarios and a best-practice guideline is provided accordingly.
