Nondestructive Resonance Testing using Time and Frequency Domain Techniques

The objective of this work is to compare various approaches for classification of the good and bad parts via nondestructive resonance testing methods by collecting and analyzing experimental data in the frequency and time domains. For data acquisition, a laser scanning vibrometer was employed to determine the spectral characteristics such as natural frequencies and amplitudes. Later, statistical pattern recognition tools such as Hilbert Huang Transform, Fisher's Discriminant, and Neural Network were used to identify and classify the articles under test as discontinuous or discontinuity-free.
