70 mm austenitic stainless steel 316L Blind was welded to a 4" nozzle with double bevel groove joint type. The root pass is
welded with Tungsten Arc welding method in both sides and is tested via liquid penetrant testing. The Filling passes were
welded with SMAW method and is subjected to Ultrasonic testing. Also PMI test is performed on the weld metal to evaluate
the effect of electrode composition on weld metal composition. The results show that there are some defects such as LOF in
above the upper root pass and the PMI test were accepted for all of the electrodes however the AWS E309MoL have higher
chromium and nickel alloy than others and thus has more resistance to corrosion.
