The use of industrial CT systems has been steadily growing in the aerospace business, and is becoming a common tool for acceptance testing and inspection. Training and certification programs have lagged behind the advancement and increased use of this technology, as has been experienced with digital radiography. This paper will summarize the training and certification program developed at Honeywell FMT for a Level II operator which complies with ASNT’s SNT-TC-1A recommended practice. Topics will include required training, experience, exams, education requirements, and considerations for program development such as specific business needs, diversity of testing being performed, educational and skill level of operators, and content covered in training courses.
