Significant information exists on nondestructive evaluation standards, and specific training courses exist for educating and qualifying professionals on various types of NDE methods. However, bridge owners have lacked a comprehensive resource that summarized the most appropriate NDE technologies suitable for bridge inspections. The National Highway Institute, as the educational arm for the United States Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration, has recently developed a two-day training course entitled NHI 130099A - Bridge Inspection NDE Seminar (BINS) in order to highlight various nondestructive technologies and further the education of individuals that reside outside the NDE industry.
