Nanoindentation Characterization of Vinylester Glass-fiber Composites Submitted to Dense Ultraviolet Radiation Exposure

The use of polymer matrix composites in building and construction has become increasingly attractive, though some issues remain. Among these are the variations of mechanical properties in an outdoor environment, particularly due to dense ultraviolet (UV) exposure. In this work, bulk vinylester and vinylester glass-fiber composite samples were exposed to UV radiation using the integrating simulated photodegredation by highenergy radiant exposure UV radiation facilities located at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
