The hot section components of jet engines undergo severe environmental operating conditions that generate combined thermo-mechanical loads, which impair their structural durability and performance. Minimizing the impact of these loads and inventing a crack detection technology to monitor the health of these components is among the key objectives of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Aviation Safety Program (AVSP)
