Digital Radiographic Imaging Plate Physical Properties

Computed radiography imaging plates are designed to have acceptable durability over a wide range of environmental operating conditions. This paper will review the physical properties of storage phosphor imaging plates. Structural and chemical composition will be compared for both imaging plates and film. Important durability attributes will be discussed such as hardness, scratch propensity, coefficient of friction, and chemical resistance. The impact of physical property degradation on imaging performance and image quality will be demonstrated. Usage criteria and guidelines for maximized plate life will be presented.
