Computed Radiography System Qualification and Verification for the Acceptance of Customer Product

In today’s difficult economy, companies are looking for cost reductions wherever possible. Manufacturers are forced to be increasingly creative when submitting bids and price proposals. Adding in the expense of control and disposal of waste produced by film-based systems, it is difficult to be competitive in any manufacturing base where film radiography is used. Computed radiography (CR) offers substantial savings while significantly reducing the environmental impact that is inherent in conventional film radiography. With recent breakthroughs in phosphor image plates, image producing hardware and viewing software, CR is just starting to be considered for use as a final inspection acceptance method…provided that your system meets the minimum requirements set forth by ASTM, your customers, or any other regulatory agency that governs the use of your CR system.
