Acceleration of Finite Difference Time Domain Model on a Graphics Processing Unit for Time Reversal Microwave Testing

The time-reversal technique for nondestructive testing has interesting potential for various biomedical applications. Designing an experimental setup can be prohibitively expensive and time consuming. Modeling this technique with finite difference time domain has been accomplished with success; however, the execution can be quite slow. This paper presents an implementation on a graphics processing unit (GPU). GPUs have become increasingly popular with scientific codes because of their large potential processing power to solve problems.
