Thirty-degree Contact Circumferential Shear Wave Calibration on Outside/Inside Diameter Ratio of Two

Ultrasonically testing a hollow, round component with an outside/inside diameter ratio of two presents a unique set of challenges. This paper describes how to account for the incident angle of the shear wave not reaching the first critical angle, a problem that can confuse less-experienced technicians.
