Proper Use of Light During Testing

To ensure maximum results for surface type tests, such as magnetic particle, liquid penetrant and visual tests, the technician must be aware of and abide by the appropriate requirements specified for the type of light being used. Light that is too bright or too dim can degrade test conditions and fail to detect discontinuities.
