UV-A LEDs Part I

New automobile headlights, new stoplights and new flashlights, all of these lights are powered with LEDs. LEDs are brighter and use less energy than conventional light sources, they also last longer. There are also a class of UV-A LED light sources. But can LEDs be used for inspecting penetrant and magnetic particle indications? To answer this question, we need to understand what makes an LED produce light in the UV-A spectrum.
