As demand for higher quality pipes and tubes has grown in recent years, the requirements of nondestructive testing such as ultrasonic testing and electromagnetic testing for seamless pipes and tubes have become severe. Therefore, in ultrasonic testing, not only conventional inspection for longitudinal defects, transverse defects and laminations, but also inspection for an “oblique,” which exhibits some obliquity relative to the axis of the pipes and tubes, has been required.
