Developments in ultrasonic instrumentation, improved signal processing, and high speed data acquisition have rekindled the interest in ultrasonic thermometry and made temperature localization feasible and economically attractive to a wider range of applications. Recent investigations have demonstrated that localized temperature, surface temperature and heat flux can be measured ultrasonically.
