Ultrasonic NDT of cracks in engineering components requires good signal timing resolution in order to separate closely spaced echoes and to improve the flaw sizing accuracy achievable with time-of-flight diffraction methods. In this paper we investigate and compare two signal processing techniques to improve the time resolution of the echo signals: autoregressive spectral extrapolation and L1 norm deconvolution.
