This paper summarizes the background of using infrared imaging and GPR as QA in hot mix construction, presents example case studies, and concludes by outlining the steps needed for successful integration of these technologies into agency operations. Transportation agencies and contractors alike are working toward a common goal of uniformly constructed, high quality pavements with long life, and these non-destructive tests may be able to help assure these goals are met in hot-mix asphalt HMA construction.
