Indirect Displacements Measurement Using Accelerometers and High-Resolution Signal Modeling

This paper describes a novel approach to process measured, dynamic accelerations using advanced signal processing techniques. A proposed new signal model has the capability to reject noise, keeping only the true accelerations. The displacement can then be estimated directly from the signal model, using only the extremely low frequencies that yield the static displacements. All measurements are initiated with the structure at rest, followed by excitation by a moving load. Our experiments on real beam data verify that our method is robust and accurate.
