High Temperature Nondestructive Testing of Metal Plates Using Mode Selective Wedges

Guided acoustic waves are attractive for nondestructive testing (NDT) and structural health monitoring (SHM) applications at high temperature (HT) because they may inspect parts and pipes of a large area within a short time period. In the investigation, experiments of brass wedges to efficiently excite and receive shear-horizontal (SH) plate acoustic waves (PAWs) in stainless steel (SS) plates at temperatures up to 200 °C and NDT of an artificial line crack are presented.
