Dynamic Load Test for Slab Type Bridge

This paper presents an overview of the experimental and analytical studies performed on slab type bridges; majority bridges constructed in Thailand. In order to evaluate bridge behavior under truck load, a numerous of full load tests using 25 tons Thai truck was applied. Both Static and Dynamic load tests were conducted on these bridges in order to determine their static and dynamic behavior. Several parameters natural frequency, deflection, and strain, are obtained to calculate damping amplification factor and adjusted structural modulus of elasticity. Damping amplification factor (DAF) which is normally obtained from measured deflection is also calculated using strain from various measured point. The results indicate that DAF calculated using strains is lower than measured deflection. Findings also are observed that DAF is factored by other parameters such truck speed and surface roughness at approach slab.
