Various damage mechanisms exist in the steam generator (SG) tubes of nuclear power plants. The geometric deformation of SG tubes caused by dent or bulge would be a stress concentration zone to eventually impair its integrity. In case a crack occurs simultaneously in the dented SG tube region, the diagnosis signal would be distorted so that the combined flaw makes it difficult to detect itself and to identify its defect mechanism.
