This paper discusses how guided wave inspection provides a rapid method of screening spherical tank legs which have significant damage along their length. Just as important, legs having no damage can be quickly identifi ed so that valuable resources are not spent on good components. It can be employed with minimal cleaning and preparation, the inspection time is basically independent of length and the sensor does not have to be scanned along the length of the leg to perform the inspection.
