Evaluation of Micro-Cracking in Fiber Reinforced Concrete Pipe Using Acoustic Emission

ASTM Standard Three-Edge-Bearing tests were conducted on cellulose fiber reinforced concrete pipe (FRCP) sections. In addition, nondestructive acoustic emission (AE) was performed to detect crack initiation and propagation throughout the samples. It was found that both amplitude and AE counts were the two most reliable AE parameters in detecting damage. The research’s objective is to evaluate acoustic emission for pipe inspection and material evaluation.
