Evaluation of Fluorescent Penetrant Indications Caused by Positive Metal Conditions

This paper makes a valid point: examination of certain parts may be more efficiently done by visual testing of the part under white light. Certain components may be prone to having positive faults that might not be amenable to penetrant testing but that can be located visually. For these parts, where the possibility for both positive and negative faults exist, visual testing can be made prior to penetrant testing, thereby locating both types of discontinuities.
