SHM Application of Virtual Sensing, Structural Health Monitoring

Virtual sensing is a technique where damage or structural parameters are not measured directly; rather, they are identified by using analytical techniques related to physical parameter or damage. This method slightly differs from inferred methods and has potential to take advantage of both direct and inferred methods while trying to avoid or minimizing the limitations associated with both. This paper discusses this technique with a case study available in the literature.
