This paper covers some research done on the possibilities of using Infrared Thermography to support standard oil industry Nondestructive Evaluation methods on piping systems. The purpose of the study was to determine if Infrared Thermography can optimize the Upstream and Downstream NDE monitoring of piping which is in a corrosive environment and requires frequent monitoring. The study observed various hydrocarbon piping systems that had known process conditions and is being monitored in a regular NDE program.
