High Voltage Electrical Survey Advancement

Technology miniaturization has made advancements in high voltage electrical surveying possible. A solar blind ultraviolet image overlaid onto infrared, combined with a solar blind ultraviolet image and then overlaid onto color visible in the same camera with a weight of 2.7 kg (6 lb) provides the comparison images and portability to allow an operator to do on the spot analysis and repair priority assignments. Ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometric images provide the quickest location and identification. The ultraviolet infrared image allows analysis to determine if there is damage and the severity of that damage. This can be accomplished in just seconds through menu selection, when in the past, it required two separate cameras. This paper provides examples of different images and analyses, with operating time from handheld, laboratory, vehicle and aerial camera mounts.
