There is a right way and a wrong way to electrically interrogate a nanoscopic material, depending on its impedance. For a low impedance material, the source current/measure voltage method will result in the least electrical noise and allow the most accurate response measurement with the widest bandwidth. For a high impedance material, the source voltage/measure current method is more appropriate for similar reasons.
