A laboratory model has been built and tested to simulate an elastic half-space medium subjected to dynamic loading. This has been used in an attempt to experimentally determine the two important elastic properties of shear and Poisson ratio of the medium. Also, the finite size model has been used to conduct experiments to verify the validity of some of the established theories on the dynamic response of a rigid foundation on the surface of an elastic half-space.
